Power Systems Test Engineer - Aquila UAV

Duties:

Test Power Systems equipment including energy storage (batteries), motors, solar panels, and power control systems. Write test procedures; set up and execute tests; process data; and write reports. These tasks will be conducted both independently and in collaboration with design engineers.

  • Stand up Power Systems Lab including electrical equipment, lab furniture, and safety equipment. Document working procedures as needed.
  • Maintain Power Systems Lab, including maintaining supplies and inventory, ensuring safety procedures are properly followed, and working with Facilities team
  • Solve equipment issues (software, mechanical, electrical).
  • Write and maintain test scripts
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers in the development, integration and testing of power system components and systems for internet-providing UAV.

Skills:

  • 5+ years testing power components, subsystems, and systems (especially batteries, motors, solar panels, and/or power control systems). 
  • Experience with the safe testing and use of electrical equipment, and with purchasing of lab equipment
  • Detail-oriented and effective approach to problem solving  technical issues  Experience with statistical tools preferred
  • Lab software including automation and data processing tools (LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with setting up a lab (both equipment and procedures), ideally in a fast-paced or startup environment
  • Clear communication style, both verbal and written

Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering field
