Virtual Reality Multimedia Systems Engineer

Oculus Research is seeking a multimedia systems engineer to work in the perceptual science group. The job entails supporting the research team in achieving their research goals by performing software and hardware development and integration on a variety of platforms. Candidates should be familiar virtual reality development within Unreal and/or Unity game engines, MaxMSP, and Matlab. Applicants should have programming experience in C/C++ or C# and experience communicating between multiple hardware and software platforms (E.g. USB, Serial, OSC, UDP, and/or MIDI protocols).

  • Implementing hardware and software infrastructure for multimedia techniques in various areas, multichannel loudspeaker arrays, lighting, display systems, and interactive controllers.
  • Developing multimedia VR experiences in Unreal and Unity game engine
  • Collaborate with both internal teams and academia in research to explore perceptual factors, define limits and specifications, and discover opportunities for revolutionary improvement in virtual and augmented reality displays and systems.
  • Explore opportunities and requirements to create new virtual experiences and perform research necessary to deliver them.
  • Working alongside assets and art team to prototype new game demos and experiences.
  • 3+ years of experience in C/C++/C# programming. 
  • 3+ years of experience in Unity and Unreal game engine
  • 3+ years of experience in multimedia installation/demo development, MaxMSP 
  • (Preferred) 3+ years with experimental methodology, psychophysics, and/or related statistical analysis
  • Interpersonal skills with cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Able to obtain work authorization in the US beginning in 2017 and willingness to relocate to Redmond, WA

Master's degree or equivalent experience.
